1973 ALF 1000 Series Aero Chief 90 from Bristol, TN

Bristol still runs this Aero Chief 90 as a reserve piece.

1973 ALF 1000 Series Aero Chief 90 from Baltimore, MD

Built for Baltimore as a 90' water tower, this rig carried no ground ladders. It featured the 6" waterway and dual monitors. In the 1980's, it was refurbed by Pierce with a new body and 85' Snorkel. It was scrapped in 1995.

1974 ALF 1000 Series Aero Chief 90 Quint from Chatsworth, GA

Delivered new to Key West, FL, this 90' quint was sold to Woodstock, GA in the mid-1980's. It was refurbed by American Fire Apparatus and served until the early 1990's. It was then sold to Chatsworth, where it continues to serve today.

The only Aero Chief built on the Pacemaker chassis, Avalon ran this 90' quint up until a few years ago.

Gadsden still operates this rig as a reserve aerial.

1974 ALF 1000 Series Aero Chief 80 from Shreveport, LA

Shreveport's third Aero Chief was also the last one built. The red stripe was added in the early 1990's.

During 1973, A-T-O, Inc., the parent company of American LaFrance, purchased the Snorkel Fire Equipment Company. It was decided that the Aero Chief line would be discontinued. New orders for elevating platforms would all be Snorkels and the final four Aero Chiefs were delivered during 1974. Once again, additions, corrections and photos are always welcome.
